try to include your password and remote ip addresses on your /etc/ppp/pap-secrets config. Something like:
Secrets for authentication using PAP
# client server secret IP addresses
gracie * password1 192.168.1.200
grace2 * password2 192.168.1.200
and also try adding a line like:
+pap
on your /etc/ppp/options config...

But as for me, im still having a hard time finding drivers for my internal modem at home. External modems are much easier to configure. And for easy setup and monitoring, i will say it is much better to use externals. about the number of modems, that depends on your serial card. For our box, we use 16 port card (equinox) but i only use it for up to 8 modems. gracie ----- Original Message ----- From: eeyan - sysad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, October 23, 2002 1:37 PM Subject: Re: [plug] help on mgetty on rh7.2 dial-in serverGracie, Can I use internal modems? and/or USB modems for dial-in?
