hello all,

i just installed opera (static libs) on Mandrake 9. i didn't
want to have to figure out all the dependencies for dynamic
libs.

does the LSB include specification on minimum levels of
certain basic libraries? and then there would also have
to be library naming conventions (maybe not a big deal
since libraries are named with version numbers, but
might be a big deal, since vendors (certainly mandrake)
often mangle the version number part with references
to the vendor (e.g., -mdk).

will LSB compliant software have to be statically linked?
or is there a standard for dynamic linking (list of standard
libraries, minimum levels, standard naming, etc).

just wondering, and maybe starting a discussion. got me
to wondering since it took me a while to figure out that
i could install the static version of opera pala :). i
was opera-less for two hours, had to use mozilla (which is
a nice browser, but i prefer opera and have gotten used
to it).
