This sounds like a rash conclusion considering you are still waiting for
their reply. From my personal experience on the Bayanihan development
list I believe that they are open to contributions from "outside
volunteers". They just haven't gotten around to setting up the complete
infrastructure for this kind of work, though.

There will be a next release. We just do not know when. I am sure if
more people helped this would be realized much earlier.  Please see

Before making these sweeping remarks please read the archives, join the
dev list, and do your homework by at least waiting for a reply from the
core team.
