Hey all,

I've been looking through the cool Linux-embedded gadgets down at
linuxdevices.com, and one of the things that caught my attention is the
car stereo mp3 player, which makes use of a 6GB laptop hard disks to
load the mp3 files. Then the disks are docked into the player, and so
on.

What fascinated me was that what's inside is some sort of a mini
motherboard, the Intel StrongARM I think it's called. As I understand,
the Linux kernel image is stored in flash, then loaded into RAM during
operation.

So I guess my inquiry is, are "motherboards" like the StrongARM
available here locally (bnew or secondhand in HMR, whatever)? What are
alternatives to this cool product? How much do they cost? And most
importantly, can I play around with it just as I would with a regular PC
(give or take a few more degrees of difficulty?

My plan is to acquire one for personal use (hobby thing), then
eventually try to make useful appliances out of it for work purposes.

Thanks!
