I wrote a shell script to load in a
new keymap upon invoking my new favorite
text editor jed and reverting to the
default one upon exit.

#!/bin/sh
loadkeys ~/cuaready.map
/usr/bin/jed $*
loadkeys -d

However, it would be better if there was a
way to get the keymap currently in use
before loading in a new one and then
restoring it. Is this possible?
