Allo Juan et Alice,

I really can't delay this any longer because reading just a chapter or
two of this book just confirms that it is a must read for serious
systems/network administrators, whatever OS they prefer.

"The Practice of System and Network Administration" by Thomas Limoncelli
and Christine Hogan belongs on the desk of every system and network admin
who takes pride in being one. It makes a great complement to Nemeth et
al's "UNIX System Administration Handbook" 2nd or 3rd edition or it's
recent refit, "Linux Administration Handbook" and Frisch's "Essential
System Administration".

Limoncelli and Hogan provide a lot of new material that give an even
clearer picture of what system administrators ought to be doing and
what else can be done. In each chapter, they discuss the basics that
every sysadmin should know and be providing/performing, and then,
having provided a picture of the requisites they go on to discuss what
they call "icing". Their progression from minimum required to extras
gives system administrators from all levels the big picture and a
better grasp of what is the least that they should be doing and ideas
of what more they can do.

I feel that beginning sysadmins and experienced sysadmins alike will
learn a lot from Tom and Chris's book and I would include it in my
list of recommended reading material for sysadmins along with Nemeth
and Frisch's books.

I was really happy when I spotted this book at a local computer book
shop and quickly decided to buy it despite the hefty price tag.
Consider though that it was a steal, it comes out much cheaper here in
the Philippines than it would in the US.

If you spot this book, don't hesitate. Buy it! Well, if you aren't a
sysadmin or aren't planning on being one, maybe you can pass this one by.
