[plug] install Linux ppc on imac

Good day to all   I have a Mandrake PPC installer and I want to change the existing OS of my iMac using it. Questions: How would I make an iMac boot on CD? Is the manner of installing Linux OS on pc is the same in iMac? When I use mandrake on it, will I be erasing the entire hard drive?
