it really depends.... what kind of database is this? lan-ignorant?
lan-aware? or lan-intrinsic? but the most important factor here for your
database is that it knows how to lock a record or manipulate that record
when multiple clients are writing to it...  reading of records by multiple
clients are not an issue.... a gigabit link will drastically improve your
network i/o...
