I feel very uneasy with this politicization of software. I use Linux because it's technically cool and not because of its license (keeping in mind the fact that its source is freely available and tweakable is an important facet of what makes it 'technically cool'... but that's not necessarily equivalent to its being GPL'ed). For me, the case for Linux is based *entirely* on practical and technical issues. I'm completely uninterested in the political ones. The fact that usage or advocacy of MS products seems to have become politically incorrect in many contexts means that many people have already put on blinders (never a good thing). While such attitude is forgivable and perhaps even appropriate for Greenpeace, if I were a CEO, I wouldn't stand for such in an IT manager (just like an 'MS zombie' attitude(*) would invite my disdain) - it WILL cost the company. (*) just another manifestation of technology as religion. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
