hello all,
I'd like to upgrade someone else's RH 7.3 installation. is there anything I
I should worry about regarding an automatic upgrade?
of course I'll backup everything before upgrading, but what I'd like
to know is how smooth is the upgrade? will the new RPMs honor the
settings of the old config files (i.e., not modify /etc/* if they have been
customized)? i'd like to be able to upgrade and continue without having
to tweak the configurations again (someone else configured this box,
it's a volunteer job and i'd rather not spend too much time on it, just
get the thing up and running). it's also behind only a 64K line
(very small provincial ISP connected via satellite) and so even
downloading packages to install is too slow.
this is only a survey :). i am aware of how insecure 7.3 is out of
the box, it's not my choice, but i have to work with it now while
minimizing the amount of time I spend on it.
