check you mail queue. baka maraming naka queue na mail and it keeps on sending an already closed port, a syn_sent should be seen from netstat -ta, i think you have to close your open relay. edit your /etc/mail/access and put only the host/network that you want to use you as a relay. then do `makemap hash access > access.db` or better yet, as what Mike told you, migrate to QMail or postfix
