I'm looking for Apache, MySQL/Firebird/PostgreSQL, Linux/*BSD tuning specialists to help me deploy a web application service. I don't necessarily need a tuning guru right now, but would like to work with someone who already has a deep and broad knowledge of web/DBMS/*nix technologies and who is interested and willing to work in the particular area of tuning for 'massive scalability'.
Based on my research and experience, the optimum technologies I should be deploying for this particular purpose is MySQL on Linux, but I could be convinced to use the alternative OS and DBMSes I've mentioned. My preferred OS variants are Slackware and FreeBSD. I'm also looking for a scripting languages expert with Python and client-side Javascript knowledge to help me build the 'front end' for said web application. PHP experts are also welcome, but the technology I plan to use in the long run is the Python-based Spyce (spyce.sf.net) because it is just so much easier to work with. Thus someone with an interest in eventually learning Python is de rigueur. The web application service I intend to deploy makes use of a unique technology I have developed which I am willing to demonstrate to potential partners who meet the requirements and is not your typical uninspired, me-too web application service concept. This initial application is not exactly a grandiose revolutionize-the-world thing but is instead a nifty concept which nevertheless fills a fairly widespread and hitherto unaddressed need of web surfers for quite some time now. However, the mechanism behind it has the potential to be used for much much more. Thus someone who is good with marketing and can come up with realistic applications for it is also very welcome. This is a 'garage type' invention/idea which takes more expertise than cash to deploy in the beginning but which, if things go as planned, will require a fair amount of capital input rather early in the game. Thus, the icing on the cake for me would be if I could bounce my ideas off people with a head for business as well.
