(Crossposted to compsci because it's more appropriate.) The most important thing to understand in db design is normalization. Now if you peruse the database textbooks out there (even a fairly accessible one like 'Database Systems' by Connolly and Begg), the chances are that you will lose interest pretty quickly.
The basic tenets of normalization are actually quite common sense and nowhere near as mind-numbing the textbooks would lead you to believe. This short, well-written article is what you need to get comfortable with the subject matter. http://www.cowgirlcoder.com/articles/normalforms.htm I also recommend checking out the db related links I have been posting to Compsci. ======================= email: andy/netfxph/com -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
