Hi,

That's true, But you have to set date to "now" and press the Play button. 
I would prefer if that was the default.

Cartes du Ciel is also GPL, although for Windows only. It does have LX200 
and ASCOM control, although as the KStars developers said, the CVS version 
of KStars has LX200 and Celestron control already. It would be nice if 
they added Telrad finder, binoculars, and eyepiece views. Cartes du Ciel 
has this already -- you can customize your own eyepiece views based on 
FOV, e.g. Kellner 40*, Plossl 50*, Nagler (I wish..) 82* apparent field.

I was talking about the sky-scrolling performance when grabbing with the 
mouse. Starry Night is much faster. But it seems it can take advantage of 
OpenGL hardware acceleration.

Not for me -- I would like to have telescope finder fields.  :)
