Now LRP is dead. From /.: "Live by the GPL, die
by the GPL"
Will this happen to other Open Source Projects
after a few years?

A good open source lead developer passes on the project to able hands if (s)he can no longer continue it. Dead is an improper word to use in this case. If he chooses not to pass it on, then it's his decision to halt the project. Yes it will happen to other open source projects if the lead developer chooses not to pass leadership to another developer. Fortunately, other open source lead developers are more responsible than LRP's.
