thanks again for the quick response... i think its working right now.. our
boss is not a fan of packaged rpms. he wants us to compile from the source
code and from that create custom rpm packages. :-) also the directory tree
is his idea of easily determining what packages are installed including
their versions. also that way we can control where packages are installed.
