There's something weird going on there.. X always has consumed lots of RAM.. but solely because it mmap()'s the AGP aperture region into its process space. Here's what I get: PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME CPU COMMAND 2723 root 16 0 8844 8836 2176 R 56.4 2.2 12:08 0 mencoder 1138 root 10 0 274M 9236 5280 R 20.1 2.3 20:02 0 X as you can see my SIZE is even bigger than yours. But the resident size is quite small. I am using RedHat9 with anti-aliasing too. Maybe it's an artifact of the shared-memory setup of the SiS chip. --- Orlando Andico <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mosaic Communications, Inc. -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
