i have a generic 6-in-1 reader (generic kasi di naman kilala yung brand) and in my experience my mandrake 9.1 can only use the CF reader. I can also use the CF reader in my Sandisk CF/SmartMedia combo reader (I dont have any SmartMedia card to test with).

There were some discussions in mandrakeusers.org regarding these peripherals. Some points thrown in was that since the SD and MMC is patented (i cant remember which part, the device or the algo or whatever), Fujitsu cannot even make a driver even if they want to without getting the approval of the other partner companies.

I have googled around and found some sites that has a tutorial on building your own kernel that supports SD/MMC. I have never tried for lack of time. You might want to try it out and send in your results. :)

As for the other card readers in the 6-in-1, I just dont have the cards to play with. I am accepting donations for *research* purposes. <g>

ciao!

hi list

any tips for specific brands of
internal flash reader that is supported
by linux? i want to buy those "6 in 1" internal readers (reads compact flash,
sd, mmc, memory stick, blah blah blah)
for my linux server but i have no idea which
one is supported. Meron ako ngayon
compact flash reader (enermax brand)
(connects thru
usb) and i'm lucky it works--automated
ko na ang loading ng jpg files from the
memory card (with i soldered my own serial
button as a trigger).....kaso
i'm about to buy a new digitalcamera
eh iba iba na naman ang memory formats.
(parang trip ko ang SD flash kaso wala
akong reader, at meron pa rin akong
mga compact flash).

on a side note which do you think
will "win" copmact flash, SD or xD?
nakakainis e, pabago bago...

mabuhay,
jondz
