This is false. For information on the ClamAV virus database, check out their website[1]. You'll notice that the current viruses.db database was last updated on 2003-09-03, and viruses.db2 on 2003-09-14. With these, ClamAV detects 9589 viruses. However ClamAV relies on the community to detect new viruses, so bigger anti-viruses houses like Kaspersky Labs or Network Associates will be able to respond to new viruses much faster than ClamAV will.
