In my case, the Windows 2000 Professional box is acting as a DHCP server. 
I've found that the above command doesn't work unless I also add the IP 
number of the Windows box. I can't figure out WHY is the case though.

And I still can't find a way to print to the HP Laserjet 1000 on the 
Windows box. It can be seen using LinNeighborhood and the xfsamba 
application that comes with XFce, but print jobs just don't reach the 
printer.
