Sorry for the barrage of questions, but here is another one:
I have a machine with an HPT372 (Highpoint) IDE RAID chipset. I have 2
drives, one on IDE3-master and one on IDE4-master (IDE1 and IDE2 aren't
HPT372 supported). I was able to install Linux (Redhat 8.0) and it
works and all, and the kernel seemed to detect the RAID controller, but
RAID doesn't seem to be running. A "df" shows filesystems
/dev/hde{1-11} with its corresponding mount points.
Question is, now that the RAID controller is "hardware" (it has its own
BIOS setup utility, cool!), does this mean that RAID arrays are now
transparent to Linux? Or, do I still have to configure stuff in order
to make RAID work? If it's the latter, where do I find the docs and
howtos? I have experience in Software RAID, do I set things up just
like I would in software?
I'm implementing RAID 1, btw.
Again, thanks!
