We have tried this and it successfully works.  After updating the configuration file, 
all you need to do is make the modules (#make modules) then find the modulename.o and 
then copy it to the /lib/modules/modversion/kernel/... directory.  We have tried it at 
least on the drivers directory.

I guess... but you need to have the same kernel version ang build, and you
need to use your old kernel .config file, then put "m" to the option you
want to make as a module. Recompile the whole kernel then... :) then find
the .o file and move to to /lib/modules/kernel/something... I havnt tried
this, tell me if you made it successfuly.
