I've never used the exact hardware configuration you have, but since you're wanting to optimize kernel-level performance and fix some hardware issues, you may want to try the following (in order): - Configure and compile your kernel from source, using the latest (2.4.23) and only enabling support for features and hardware that you need. - Experiment with various settings for your ATA/IDE device driver subsystem using the hdparm(8) utility. Ideally you should be able to work things out so that you don't need to pass those three parameters to the kernel on boot-up. --> Jijo -- Federico Sevilla III : http://jijo.free.net.ph : When we speak of free Network Administrator : The Leather Collection, Inc. : software we refer to GnuPG Key ID : 0x93B746BE : freedom, not price. -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
