what player are you using? if you're using mplayer, try these settings:

Preferences > Video = X11 (XImage/Shm)
Preferences > Codecs & demuxer = Video codec family: xvid decoder
Audio codec family: Ogg/Vorbis audio decoder

This works for me.See if it'll works for you.
