You are NOT out of the woods. SCO is also claiming IP infringement on the BSD IP, and no one is in a position to refute their claims because the terms of the 1994 settlement between the Regents of UC and Novell are sealed. Personally -- I don't rate SCO's chances as very high. But if you think BSD is "safer" than Linux -- not necessarily so. If you want to be REALLY safe, get the free Solaris X86 license.
