hi Louie,

i'm CC'ing this to the list in case someone else finds it useful. hope you
don't mind..

First, you have to call/email Johnny Air Cargo (it's the same company) so
they will put you on their database. Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your
complete contact info. You can also call them 750 0786 and look for
Leiden.

Second, when you purchase the item on ebay or elsewhere, put as the
shipping address the following:

JOHNNY AIR CARGO NEW YORK
YOUR_NAME_HERE c/o Aura Black
69-04 Roosevelt Avenue
Woodside, New York 11377
(718) 672-7080

change the name as appropriate. by default items will be shipped via
Johnny Air Cargo which is expensive ($5.50/pound, minimum 2 pounds, volume
weight applies). If you want shipping via Ocean Cargo (which takes 45-60
days) you must have the seller indicate on the shipping label that it's
"FOR OCEAN CARGO" (you can just append this to the shipping address).

pay the eBay person via www.bidpay.com -- it allows you to use your credit
card to send a money order. do NOT go to the local Western Union, malaki
masyado ang transaction fee nila (minimum $20). sa
bidpay/auctionpayments.com (which is ALSO western union) it's as low as
$3.

NOTE WELL: when you pay via bidpay, it's AS GOOD AS CASH. so the ebay
seller can stiff you and not send you any goods. therefore, ONLY buy from
ebay sellers who:

 1) have high feedback (> 200)
 2) have high satisfaction ration (> 99%)
 3) sell a lot of the same or similar items

e.g. don't buy an expension Xenon HID kit from someone who is just selling
one HID kit and 200 hello kitty stickers. Some unscrupulous ebay sellers
will jack up their feedback by buying and selling numerous small items,
then they will list for sale a handful of big ticket items. when people
"buy" these items and pay for them... ebay seller skips town.

that's why i trust andovercg -- they sell LOTS of used computer equipment,
their feedback rating is 30000+ AND.. i've bought stuff from them before.

once you've paid, the better ebay sellers will ship via UPS or FedEx. they
will provide you a tracking number. so you can watch your item crawl
across the US and make its way to JAC in Woodside. once it gets to
Woodside, email or call the local office and tell them it's arrived. You
should then get it in a week (assuming it's Air Cargo).

for smaller-ticket items, i just have the US seller ship directly to the
Philippines via post office. It's less of a hassle that way, and, since i
pay via money order, even sellers who claim "we only ship to US" will
often ship to me.

by "smaller ticket" i mean non-critical items that won't catch the eye of
the scums at Customs. for example, i got my 1993-1998 Haynes Mazda 626
service manual this way. Hindi mainit sa mata ng Customs ang books, or
anything old.

but CD's and any electronics.. and they'll whack you 10% VAT + 25% import
tax on the declared value of the items. AND the American seller will NOT
mis-declare the item (true value needed for insurance).

if you buy from say Amazon, you can have them ship it straight to you
(prepare for steep delivery fees, e.g. $20 delivery for a $12 audio CD).
Plus, mainit sa mata ng Customs scum ang box na merong Amazon logo. OR,
you can have Amazon ship it to Johnny Air. Same procedure as before.

> How's ur 626 btw?

well it's annoying. it has either bad timing or a busted camshaft position
sensor (which is a Hall effect sensor). net result, when the sensor
decides to act up, can't exceed 2000rpm. sayang tuloy freeflow muffler ko.
ungodly noise, extremely timid performance. :P

Maybe i'll buy one of those distributors from ebay seller "flying_pat" --
$240 lang ang distributor sa kanya, with 1-year warranty! vs 25000 petot
sa Autorama and 35000 petot sa Ford casa.
