Check first the cost of invest for your organization/company. Today, DSL is
cheeper than dedicated leased line, if you compare the cost of a 64Kbps
burstible to 128Kbps which is around to Php51K to a PowerPack 1Mb DSL
(512Kbps upstream, 1024Kbps down with CIR of 128Kbps) with the cost around
Php50K, think twise. You can also change the V.35 leased line module to a
minimal cost of ADSL module on your Cisco 2511 Router in your main office,
then you can you use a Linux DSL Router for the Remote site. This is the
most cheaper implementation that you can proposed to your management. I've
done this before and our IT Head in Japan had approved this proposal. For
the subnet, it's up to you which private/gloabal subnet you will use. You
can create a subnet table for example 172.1.xxx.xxx/24 for local and for
global is 203.172.xxx.xxx/28. For the global IP subnet, you have to consult
your ISP or WAN provider.

For your information only. I hope this information will help you a lot.

God bless,
Al

Hi,

Our boss is planning to extend our ip network to a remote city where our
annex
campus is located. Currently, we are connected to the internet via
dedicated
leased line using cisco 2511. Just want to ask if it is possible to extend
this
ip network by:

1. subscribing a lease line that will soon connect our end to our annex
campus,
then
2. setup a linux router with WAN interface on it, then
3. create a route (subnet?) to be used for the annex campus, thus realizing
the
ip network extension.

I am totally new to this idea. Funny but I just took it out from my
imagination.
Your guiding hint will really help me a lot.
