I know how to do netconfig, but i just edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf instead... it's "easier"

I think I've used a Surecom NIC before, and if I remember correctly, those cards use the Davicom 9102 chipset (take a peek at the chip on the card itself to be sure). If so, use the "dmfe" module.
I think the floppy that comes with the NIC even has the dmfe.c file in it.
