10 linux workstations with a total of 640server (+ 16perclient * 10) = 800MB ram doesn't seem bloated to me if you compare setting them up all with local harddisks and 128mb ram each, using NIS to distribute passwords & loginnames, compromising the home directories by using NFS, and having to install & upgrade things in all 10 workstations everytime you want to change, add, reconfigure packages. and with LTSP the clients are 3000 pesos each in HMR*. not 17,000 each from pcexpress when you don't use LTSP. multiply that by 10. 30,000 vs 170,000. see? you can even have 20 workstations (for redundancy) and still cost less. or even 40 terminals, from the logic that HMR warranty(3mos) is 1/4 of pcexpress' (1yr), haha. *HMR Envirocycle laguna. in front of toyota factory. -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
