Hi afaik SATA support started with alan cox's patch 2.4.21-ac4 using a later distro would be the probable solution or installing first to an IDE drive then compiling a new kernel.
Cheers :D

I have an Intel E7505 box here with SiI controller. I got White Box
Enterprise 3.0 installed on it, but GRUB can't boot the thing. Amazingly,
too, the boot disk I constructed using "dd" and "rdev" can't boot either.. the error both booting off my homebrew disk is "No operating system." Same
with trying to boot off /dev/hde the first SATA drive.
On the kernel 2.4.21 which comes with WBE, the SATA drivers are NOT seen as SCSI drives, btw.
