Well, if you want us to figure out what it is you are doing wrong, I
think you have to first explain *in detail* *exactly* what it is you
did. A short email like that just telling us that you installed it into
the plugin directory, whatever that is supposed to mean, is too vague.
What I do (though I use Firefox) is to copy the files libflashplayer.so
and flashplayer.xpt from the Flash plugin distribution into the plugin
directory. Afterwards, about:plugins should show that it's there,
saying something like:
Shockwave Flash
File name: libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 6.0 r81
MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
This same procedure is what I have done for every version of Mozilla
(including Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox) that I've ever used, and even for
Linux Netscape back in the day. I see no reason why 1.7 should be very
different.
Just in case this is exactly what you did, please state in any followup
how you installed Mozilla, where it is installed, and where you think
the plugin directory is supposed to be. Most likely the reason is your
plugin directory is somewhere other than what you think it is if it
still doesn't work.
