By ndiswrapper, do you mean the driver solution offered by linuxant's
driverloader (the one that let's you load windows wifi drivers in linux
via wrappers)? In that case, I experienced segfaults with those too when
trying to load a buggy or incompatible windows driver. It's basically
hit or miss, but I suggest you try to get your driver working via native
linux drivers first. If you'd rather stick with the ndiswrapper, try
using newer windows drivers that are available for your wifi device.

To use linux drivers, first try to find out the chipset of your wifi
card. I suppose your laptop uses one that is internal (which in some
cases uses USB wifi drivers). Type "lspci -v" and try to identify your
wifi device from those listed. I was able to get realtek and prism based
cards to work so far. If you're still in UPLB, I know Pow (Dizon) and
Dean (Berris) can help you with those.

Btw, for video under linux...use mplayer. It rox!! Especially for
playing....all sorts of videos.
