"LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Computer Associates Inc. has released its database product as open source software in a move that baffled some and made others skeptical.

CA has offered Ingres, the company's enterprise relational database management software, to the open source community. It will be under a new license called CA Trusted Open Source License (CA-TOSL), a derivative of the more familiar Common Public License (CPL). "
