Dear List:

Our client needs a messaging solution that can do the following on the local area network:
Send messages to individuals.
Send messages to groups.
Admin or superuser can check presence/absence of individuals at their computer.
Admin or superuser can check work progress of individuals.

I thought of Lotus Domino & Notes as I was familiar with it's email client and collaboration suite. Would Jabber be able to do this? Something like a "big brother" scheme of sorts. Any ideas to add?

Yours,
