if you have a Linux box connected to the DSL router, you can do some fancy-schmancy IPtables and even bandwidth management.
I just need to ask this question...what bandwidth management did you use for Linux? WonderShaper? I'm still on the process of evaluating and looking for the right QoS and bandwidth mangament in Linux. Right now, im using BSD's dummynet since I can't seem to find the right equivalent
of it in Linux ( example: defining pipes per protocol, ip..etc. ).
I wrote some software to do this type of QoS with a web interface, it also had a packet-sampling part so you could monitor the inbound and outbound bandwidth, both gross and on a per-IP, per-protocol, per-port basis.
cool.
i am no longer toying with this code, but if anyone wants it i can send it to you. it uses a transparent bridge interface so the linux box is not visible.
That would be very nice...
