Okay, I dug a little deeper before putting my foot in my mouth. :)

DPS itself doesn't provide a windowing system per se. It was the Implementor's
choice of poison, though IBM and SGI used X to underlie DPS. In the
case of the NeXT, and similarly, Apple's Mac OS X, they built their own.
