Ok here's the situation we have been using ntpd since last Dec. To
synchronize our the system clock's of the computers on our network. Here's
the catch everytime we booth the server we have to connect to the darn
internet so that the ntpd daemon will synchronize to another time server
(stratum 2?) over the internet else the ntpd daemon will quit and there wil
be no time server for our client computers to synch. with. We need a time
server because the /home directories on the our client computers is nfs
mounted. When you have nfs mount it is very important to have the client and
server system time be kept in synch.
This is only a home network we dont have the luxury of a permanent internet
connection. That's why im looking for a way to configure ntpd so that it
doesnt have to synch. to another time server but simply serve the system
time.
