This is not exactly true.  If you use a larger PE size you can get
bigger volumes.  If you use 4MB PE's (the default), then certainly you
can only make 4MiB * 65534 PE's = 262136 MiB = 255 GB as you find.  If
you use 32 MiB PE's you can get 2 TiB per logical volume.  This is the
real maximum.
