If you turn your speedtouch to router mode.. telnet into your router and try

=> nat defserver add <your linux box ip>

It will forward all incoming packets to your linux box.

or you can do port forwarding

=> nat create

1.) i cannot enable the eth0 for dhcp, because GLOBE DSL assigned me with a static ip address, That brings me to another problem with the modem/router, because it was setup using that said static ip address, by the Globe Technician itself.

2.) If the solution of this connection, is to turn speedtouch 510e to act as a router, then, the problem i would encounter again, is setting the NAT for that, because i am not familiar with the firewall command that comes with the speedtouch 510e.

Thank you for your patient.

Hi,

The speedtouch 510i is a router/modem. You will have to enable NAT to
allow your linux box to use the speedtouch as the gateway.

Your eth0 IP address can stay as is as long as you configure the
ethernet port of the speedtouch to use the same block. It might be
better to use DHCP as Peter suggests. You will then have to configure
your router to login via PPPoA (input the username, password, etc).

I was able to enter the configuration file of the speedtouch (510 ethernet) but it does not contain any options that would match my present setup.

that's the thing, if i disable the external (eth0), i can't
contact the modem thru web browser (10.0.0.138), and more
difficult, since, the protocol that they are using is pppoA,
unlike the PLDT DSL, which is pppoE.

I guess if you want to access the DSL modem's web configuration page, change
eth0 startup to DHCP.... Speedtouch should have a built-in DHCP server. in
any case, it should then give you a DHCP address...
