Thanks. however I already tried that. Still a no go...

I am using PS/2.

my /dev/mouse is a symlink to /dev/psaux.
my /dev/psaux is a symlink to /dev/misc/psaux
my other devices are in /dev/input namely:
event0
event1
mice
mouse0

so I tried them all. I also tried *every* protocol that xorg.conf
suggested it supports. :(

Then i also tried cat*-ing it in an xterm and this surprised me.
#cat /dev/mouse
It produces garbage in the stdout when I left-, right-, and
middle-click, and also when I move it. However, it doesn't do anything
when I flick the wheel forward nor backward. Strange... it doesn't
recognize those events.

This mouse only behaves like this when connected to my laptop
(Slack10). It works okay on my desktop both in Slack and Gentoo.

With that, I have a hunch that my PS/2 port doesn't support a wheel mouse.
Or
My Synaptic touchpad interferes with the PS/2 port. *sigh*

Any ideas?
