Well, have you tried using the packaged SMP kernel on Fedora Core 2 instead of recompiling. And why are you using the 2.4.6 kernel? That's really old? It's possible that you might have missed something. And also, you might want to update your kernel to 2.6.9 which might contain fixes. BTW, have you tried other distros or 2.4.x kernel?
