In my organization we are starting to use Xandros 2.5 Business in
several departments. Unfortunately we use M$ Office corporate wide, and
Xandros allows us to use that, while giving us the Linux desktop that we
want.

I publish my presentations in OpenOffice Impress (SXI), Microsoft
Powerpoint (PPT), PDF, and Macromedia Flash (SWF--just because I
can!). I also always make sure there's a PDF viewer available on the
computer I'm presenting on, and I carry it on my USB key (which is a
small pendant; it's so cute!). I'll probably only have problems with
Windows 98 computers. I guess I should carry N floppy disks for this
case? <laugh>

But yes, a notebook is the best solution if you're making lots of
presentations. Pick something that has a built-in VGA port. I lost my
VGA connector some time ago, and that's just been annoying.
