does anyone here experience random/spontaneous rebooting?.
i have this prob months already, from kernel 2.6.5 until kernel
2.6.9-r9 (gentoo).
no errors in syslog/message/debug/dmesg etc.
my machine is an old dual P3 XEON cabrillo series, onboad scsi
(adaptec), seagate hd, etc.. see below:

isql root # lspci
0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 440GX - 82443GX Host bridge
0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 440GX - 82443GX AGP bridge
0000:00:0c.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AIC-7896U2/7897U2
0000:00:0c.1 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AIC-7896U2/7897U2
0000:00:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corp. 82557/8/9 [Ethernet Pro
100] (rev 08)
0000:00:12.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ISA (rev 02)
0000:00:12.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01)
0000:00:12.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB (rev 01)
0000:00:12.3 Bridge: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 02)
0000:00:14.0 VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 5480 (rev 23)
0000:01:0f.0 PCI bridge: Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21150 (rev 06)

and i have these modules loaded:

isql root # lsmod
Module Size Used by
ipv6 258208 22
rtc 12584 0
usbcore 117924 1
eepro100 30156 0
mii 4864 1 eepro100

this cpu unit has 3 hotpluggable PSU connected to 2 UPS (1KVA each). i
also tried plugging all 3 PSU to single 1 KVA UPS, reboot pa rin.

i replaced two (2) new 512MB SDRAM (twinmos brand) memory, ang tested
with "cpuburn" to put load in the server for overnight, it didnt
reboot (and running cool). but if i left the server running for days
or weeks it reboots on its own without apparent reason.

nakakainis kasi pag hinihintay ko magreboot, ayaw mag reboot.. pag
pinabayaan, saka magrereboot.

i cant test other linux distro because i need this box up 24/7/30 (yun
nga lang minsan nagrereboot grrr!).
