Beginning to get a little off-topic for PLUG, and I'm not a networking
expert, but anyway, I'm curious: why don't you just contract someone to
lay CAT-5 or CAT-6 with proper "insulation" (PVC) and twisting?

Since the maximum length for 10/100/1000 ethernet is 100 meters, at 250
meters to cover you only need three segments, with two switches to act
as full-speed repeaters.

This seems like a faster, more reliable, and more economical solution to
going WiFi, considering both points you are connecting are fairly static
(you can have movement within the department, and deploy WiFi there if
you have mobile users, but that's a different story altogether).

... and then of course there's fiber.
