What do you mean doubled the ethernet cable? You have one on stand-by,
or do you mean you have two cables in parallel for the connection? If
you did the secound, I suggest that you revert to the first one. Doing
the second one is bad because:

1.   Unless you your able has exactly the same length and same
twisting rate (for the pairs inside), then the cables will be out of
sync (or out of phase). You'll get some signal loss here. The signal
from the other might have some considerable amount of lag. This is
compunded by the fact that you're using a long connection and there
are several terminations (the switches).

2.   Using two cables in parallel will change characteristic impedance
of the cable. This, again, will affect the signal.


Also, in addition to using putting the cables on pipes, you should
also use shielded-cabling to further reduce losses due to
electro-magnetic interference. If this is not available, then you
should try using steel pipes instead of PVC.
