UN itself or your local office? I doubt the UN as an international org
in general would be that restrictive. I do understand, however, if it is
careful in preserving its existing body of info in a closed source
format...

# mount -t vfat /dev/hdX /mnt || mount -t ntfs /dev/hdX /mnt 
# cp -a /mnt/* /somewhere/else/
...
# umount /mnt

You get the idea; you can mount an smb share somewhere to dump the
disk. Or use svn(1) if you have an svn/apache2 server (I don't have 3.6,
so I'm not sure if that'll work.)
