Indeed. Recently I had a fortuitous opportunity to meet a student from UP Los BaÃos taking up CS; he told me they took up Linux during his freshman term (related to Java and Apache stuff). Then after that, their school reverted to Windows because they've purchased the proper licenses, and dumped Linux along with it. He was keen on learning more about FOSS, and we chatted a while about it (considering that he was originally interested on inquiring about our Summer Camp program for kids ;). And having a spare Ubuntu Warty i386 CD set on hand, I gave that to him, and wished him well on his (re)newfound experience. Hopefully, there ought to be something like this in the next PhilOSC. -- ZAK B.
