True, and unless you use an X font server that would be the only hit.

But if your laptop's on a network, you could just use that trick to
outsource your fonts... Oh wait, it's a laptop nga pala :-P

Very true, unless you've got a really fast laptop of the 64-bit kind with
lots and lots of memory (both on mobo and on video card).
