Hi,
Someone has asked me to help with is Toshiba 660CDT (Pentium 150, 80mb ram) notebook and I tried to install Debian on it which is my first time to do so. I'm more familiar with Mandrake but the unit does not have enough resources to handle Mandrake.
My problems are:
a) How do I shutdown the system or how can I add a shutdown button to the menu? The default configuration installed Sawfish and the option in the menu is only Log-Out which returns to the login prompt. At the moment, one has to login as root and run shutdown at the command prompt.
b) How can I configure the sound card/sound system? I tried to play mp3 or audio cd but there is no sound. Still have yet to try video files but inserting a vcd disk does not work when I tried playing it under VLC.
Thanks!

God bless you. William
