yes it's available in the lurker but:
o   you fall back to bulletin board mode
o It's not real time. You have to wait for the new messages to be archived.
o   you cannot reply on the same screen

Instead of asking the question _AGAIN_, the search facility is readily
available to search the archives.

Discussions are threaded.
You can go to a section that interests you and ignore the rest.

You can get these two functionalities from a good mail archiver.
Jijo's lurker interface[1]
gives a very good threaded viewing facility as well as offers the
fastest search i've seen!
